An Impulse

At first, They were like your sibling.

You respected Them.

You were young, They were old.

You would play fight

And laugh around.

The laughter you shared

So shy and innocent.

As years rolled by,

The circle of your laughter evolved.

Taking with it your youth.

Their eyes caught yours,

And in that split second

Pulled you deep

Into Their soul.

Their presence alone

Made your heart dance a beat.

The touch of Their hand

Sent a tingle of anticipation through your body.

You knew the consequences of this impulse.

Knowing your wrongful desires

Would tear your lives apart.

You would loose respect, understanding

And trust of others.

So You faded away.

Yet

Mysteriously connected.

You did stay.
